Hi there! I hope you all have had a great weekend!
So for this week, I’m going to include a couple of bible verses. I feel like they go hand in hand. The first one is 1 Peter 3:8
“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.”
I love the verses like this where God tells us how to live. There is no searching for it, he tells us! The definition of like-minded is: “similar taste or opinions.” I think how this applies to us is to be Christians. Live a Christian life. It doesn’t mean that we should all be alike, think the same way, dress the same way, etc. That would be boring. I think what it is saying is to be alike in how we treat others- let them see Jesus in you.
We should be sympathetic to others. When someone is feeling down, show sympathy to them. Love is an “intense feeling of deep affection.” God commands us to love a lot. Love our brothers and sisters, our mother’s and fathers, and even our enemies. Love is the greatest of all. Compassionate is similar to sympathetic. Show concern for others.
Be humble. I’ve always felt like humbleness is a wonderful characteristic in someone. It shows they don’t put themselves first. They think of others.
1 Peter 3:10 “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.”
I think 1 Peter 3:8 tells us how to obey this verse. As well as not speaking evil and deceitful words, we can be like-minded, sympathetic, loving to one another, compassionate, and humble. Following those commands will allow us to love life and see good days.
And remember, you can’t go anywhere without a little faith.
* I just got Audrey Assad’s new album, Inheritance! I highly suggest checking it out, she’s an amazing singer and songwriter 🙂
